Sometimes it’s not enough to simply sip on a glass of wine<\/a>. You need something to nibble on to make the experience just right. There are a number of foods that you can pair with different types of wine. However, if you are looking for a light snack to enjoy with that next glass, here are some wine and fruit pairing ideas.<\/p>\n

Fruit with red wine<\/h2>\n

For those who prefer red wine, you will first need to choose your bottle. Once you know what type of red wine you will be drinking, you can make the perfect wine and fruit match. Some of the best fruits to pair with light red wines include berries and bananas. Darker or heavier reds should be paired with dried mixed fruits like figs and raisins. The driest reds on the shelf taste best with sweet fruits while sweeter reds are better suited for rich-flavoured fruit that’s not quite as sweet.<\/p>\n

Fruit and white wine<\/h2>\n

As for white wine and fruit pairing, you will also need to choose the bottle first. Sparkling whites with a light sweetness (like Muscat) pair well with berries. White wines with a mid-sweetness (like Pinot Grigio) go really well with pears and apples. Dry wines like Sauvignon Blanc pair well with bananas and dried fruits.<\/p>\n

The key to a delicious wine and fruit pairing is choosing fruit that will complement the flavours of the wine. They should not overpower them nor be overpowered by the aromas and flavours of the wine. This is especially important when it comes to red wine because of the potent nature of tannins. You can also serve different types of cheese and breads to really spruce up your wine and fruit platter.
