During the warmer months, we tend to opt for white wine rather than red. There is a common misconception that red wine is only meant to be enjoyed in the winter. If, however, you keep these tips in mind, you too can serve and enjoy a fine glass of red<\/a> on warmer days.<\/p>\n

Serve chilled<\/h2>\n

Before opening the bottle of red wine, you should make sure that you refrigerate it for several hours. Don’t worry about the wine getting too cold. It will warm up once poured and red wines should always be allowed to breathe before consumed.<\/p>\n

Breathing<\/h2>\n

As briefly mentioned above, it is important to open the bottle and allow it to breathe. By pouring the wine into a decanter, you will allow it to air properly and it will also prevent sediment from entering your wine glasses.<\/p>\n

The right wine<\/h2>\n

Many people think that all reds are dry. This is not the case and there are some amazing fruity varieties. They are smoother and sweeter which makes them ideal for the summer months.<\/p>\n

Food pairing<\/h2>\n

Not only will you need to choose the right type of red wine, but you also need to plan your meal appropriately. The bolder the wine, the stronger the food can be in order to ensure that they complement one another and the one does not overpower the other. Red wines pair with smoked cheese, red meat and they are excellent to enjoy along with a scrumptious BBQ. If you enjoy a sweeter red, you can pair it with a spicy BBQ if you fancy something with a little more bite.<\/p>\n

Whether you are planning a casual cheese and wine evening or a fulfilling BBQ with family, a fruity red wine will never let you down! You can even add some red wine to your marinade to enhance the flavour of your meat and keep it tender.<\/p>\n
