Of course, when creating a winter <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prestigehampers.co.uk\/cheese-hampers\">cheese board<\/a>, you can be sure that it will quite different from the one you serve in the warmer months. Here are some of the essentials to include when serving cheese this winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Types of cheese<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You always want to make sure that your\nwinter cheese board includes a variety of cheeses to cater to\neveryone&#8217;s tastes. You will fill your board but also keep some extra\ncheese in your fridge for refilling. Different cheeses are best\nserved in different ways. For example, harder cheeses can be cubed\nwhile softer cheeses are best sliced using a cheese slicer (usually a\nstone or wood block with a wire cutter). If you plan on serving any\nstrong-flavoured cheeses (like blue cheese), you should keep them on\na separate platter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dried fruit \n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There is something about the sweetness\nof fruit that brings out the best flavours in our favourite cheeses.\nSome of the best dried fruits to serve with your winter cheese board\ninclude apricots, mangoes, cherries, raisins and cranberries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Nuts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When selecting your nuts, you want them\nto offer flavour and texture but you should avoid anything that has\nbeen heavily salted, like peanuts. Almonds and even caramelized\npecans are great options. Pistachios and walnuts are also delicious.\nMake sure that your pistachios are not too salty or they can\ncompletely overwhelm the flavours from the cheese and other food\nitems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Breads<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Bread, crackers and mini toasts are all\ndelicious options to pair with your cheese, fruit and nuts. Many\npeople enjoy some type of carbohydrate on which to rest their cheese\nso make sure that you offer at least two options. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fresh fruit \n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Not only does dried fruit taste great\nwith cheese, but so too does fresh fruit. Pears, figs and apples are\nsome of the top options for this time of year. Avoid citrus fruits\nsince they will overpower the cheese.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pickles<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want something more on the briny\nside, you can also serve various types of pickles with your winter\ncheese board. They help balance the flavours and textures out very\nnicely. Olives, pickles and even peppadews are all excellent options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Meat<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Even if you do not eat meat, some of\nyour guests might. Keep your meat separate, just in case. When\nselecting meats, make sure that you offer at least two types of meat.\nSome type of ham or prosciutto is great and salami is always a big\nhit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don&#8217;t forget that you can also serve\nvarious spreads like jam and even honey if you like. Your winter\ncheese board can then be topped with some decorative items.
