From holiday desserts\nand Christmas flowers and festive lights, decorations are made to\nspruce up your home both inside and out. One of the best traditions\nof all is that of the advent calendar. Giving your children something\nto enjoy each day as Christmas approaches. If you don&#8217;t have one, you\ncan make your very own calendar with just a few basic items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When you need to make an advent calendar:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Beaded garland approximately\n\t9-foot long\n\t<\/li><li>Green and white cardboard\n\t<\/li><li>Glue\n\t<\/li><li>Scissors\n\t<\/li><li>12 small Christmas globes\n\t<\/li><li>1 large Christmas ornament\n\t<\/li><li>12 pairs of Christmas socks in\n\tdifferent sizes\n\t<\/li><li>Floral wire\n\t<\/li><li>24 safety pins\n<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to make your advent calendar:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Start by unpacking your socks.\n\tIt&#8217;s great to use two different sizes or alternate between colours\n\tjust to add some variation to your advent calendar.\n\t<\/li><li>Cut circles out of your cardboard\n\tso that your white circles are slightly smaller than the green ones.\n\t\t\n\t<\/li><li>Use the glue to stick the white\n\tcircle to the green background circle. You will need 24 of these.\n\t<\/li><li>Now write the numbers 1 to 24 on\n\teach of these circles. You can also decorate them even more using\n\tglitter and other accessories if you like.\n\t<\/li><li>Unpack your socks and arrange them\n\tin the order that you would like them to appear on the advent\n\tcalendar.\n\t<\/li><li>Use safety pins to secure the\n\tnumbers to each sock. \n\t\n\t<\/li><li>Now use the floral wire to secure\n\teach sock to the garland.\n\t<\/li><li>Add some small decorations in\n\tbetween your socks and you are all set!\n<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Hang your advent calendar on the last\nday of November or on 1 December along with the rest of your festive\ndecorations. Even if you don&#8217;t put your tree up yet, you can still\nembrace the holiday spirit from the beginning of the month of\nDecember with this calender. Make sure that you add a special gift in\neach sock for your child or children to enjoy. Even if you don&#8217;t have\nchildren, you can include a gift for your spouse for each day. These\nare supposed to be small gifts and they can even be sweets or\nchocolates. If you have more than one child, you can include two\nitems in each sock. Just make sure that they are identical so that\nthere are no disagreements! Alternatively, you can make two calendars\n\u2013 one for each.
