If you have ever wanted to make your own yogurt coated treats or even experiment by dipping other kinds of treats in yogurt, here’s how to make your own delicious yogurt dip!
\nFirst, you will need to choose your yogurt. Remember that you will need to add confectioner\u2019s sugar to stiffen the yogurt. This means that, the thicker the yogurt, the less sugar you will need to add. For example, for every \u00bd cup of Greek yogurt, you will need approximately 2 cups of sugar. \u00bd a cup of regular yogurt needs to be mixted with 3 cups of confectioner\u2019s sugar.
\nOnce you have your yogurt and sugar, you can select something extra if you like. Dried spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice add delicious flavours that compliment fruits like figs and apples. Paprika and chili powder work well with stone fruits like peaches.
\nWhen you are ready to dip, you will need to bloom \u00bd a teaspoon of gelatin in one tablespoon of water. This will need this amount to make 2 cups of the yogurt coating. Add your yogurt to a saucepan over a low heat on your stove. To make 2 cups of the coating, you will need \u00bc cup of yogurt. Once heated, transfer the yogurt to a mixing bowl and stir in 2 cups of confectioner\u2019s sugar and a pinch of salt and add any extra spices if desired.. Stir until thickened.
\nDust your dipping items with powdered sugar and then place them in a bowl. 2 cups of the yogurt mixture will be enough to coat half a pound of dried fruit or bite-sized snacks. Pour half of the yogurt mixture over your snacks, toss to coat and then spread them out evenly over a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Make sure that you separate all of the pieces and let them dry for about 45 minutes. Dip the pieces in the remaining yogurt and spread them out again on the baking tray. Let them stand overnight to dry and store inside an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.<\/p>\n
